Community Investment Criteria and Application for Request
As part of our corporate values and principles, SemCAMS believes in supporting and contributing positively to the communities where we work and live. We believe in investing in non-profit and charitable organizations that provide support and assistance to make our communities a better place for everyone.
Focus Areas
In order for SemCAMS to effectively meet the needs of the communities in which we operate, our community investment funds are reserved for the following focus areas:
- Civic and Community
- Culture and Arts
- Education
- Health and Human Services
Eligibility
In order for an organization to be eligible for community investment funding, they must meet the following criteria:
- The organization must be located in and serving a SemCAMS operating area
- The organization provides long-term, sustainable, positive results for the greatest number of people possible
- The project or organization fits within our focus areas
- Services or activities are provided without regard to race, religion, creed, sex or sexual orientation
- Organization should be a registered charity which is eligible to issue official tax receipts for donations, or an established not-for-profit community organization
Restrictions
Organizations considered ineligible for SemCAMS community investment funding are:
- Individual applicants or stand-alone research; advocacy groups or lobbying organizations
- Third-party fundraisers or professional solicitors
- Service clubs or fraternal organizations
- Professional associations/events/teams
- Private clubs funded through membership fees
- Advertising, promotions and film, video, television or book productions
- Religious organizations (except for those with non-sectarian purposes)
- Professional conventions, conferences or seminars, unless industry related
- Political events
Application Requests
If your organization or program falls within our guidelines, include the following applicable information in your written request:
- Name, address, phone number and charitable number (if applicable) of the submitting organization
- Overview of project or program including:
- Objectives
- Geographical area served
- Targeted group of people who will benefit and how they will benefit
- Budget and timelines
- Desired results and measurements of success
- Amount of funding requested from
- Details as to how SemCAMS participation will be profiled in the community
